1964: The Birth of an icon

On April 17, 1964, the Mustang made its debut at the New York World's Fair. Accessible, sporty, and charismatic, it offered a simple yet revolutionary formula: a long hood, a V8 engine, and freedom at the turn of a wheel. It immediately became a symbol. Over the following decades, the Mustang evolved without ever losing its aura. Each generation carried the same promise: more power, more character, and above all, that unique surge of adrenaline that only a Mustang can deliver.

The GTD: The most extreme Mustang in history

The 2025 Mustang GTD is not just another radical variant. It is a mutation, a deliberate transgression of every limit Ford has ever set. Its name pays tribute to the IMSA GTD (Grand Touring Daytona) class, where all the most extreme GT3s compete. From this racing heritage was born a clear ambition: to bring the Mustang GTD to life. Inspired by the GT3 race car, it has a single goal of becoming the fastest Mustang ever built for the road.

Under its hood roars a 5.2-liter supercharged V8, baptized "Predator", a direct descendant of the Shelby GT500. Delivering 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, it targets a top speed of 325 km/h on the track. The Mustang GTD employs a rear-mounted dual-clutch 8-speed transaxle gearbox, a configuration that ensures near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Every turn is a striking demonstration of its mechanical genius, and Its mission is clear: to conquer the Nürburgring's 73 corners in under seven minutes.

A Roar the World will hear

Even before it starts, the Mustang GTD commands respect. Every line and every carbon fiber body panel contributes to lighten the car, reinforce its structural rigidity, and channel air with millimetric precision. On the road, the air becomes its greatest ally. The integrated front fender vents guide airflow, cool the brakes, and release built-up pressure. Aerodynamics is no longer just a concept; it has become an applied science that grants the GTD staggering stability. Its sculptural carbon fiber rear spoiler, which comes standard, generates enough downforce that it seems to defy gravity itself. For the most demanding drivers, active aerodynamics is available as an option.

When it comes to braking, the GTD doesn't just slow down. Its anti-lock brake with six-piston "Brembo" carbon-ceramic discs and oversized "Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2" tires (325 mm at the front, 345 mm at the rear) literally anchor it to the ground. Then comes the sound. The legendary V8 unleashes its fury through a titanium "Akrapovič" exhaust. It's not just a noise, it's a scream. A dramatic, metallic, visceral signature. The GTD announces itself even before it appears, and when it disappears, it leaves an echo that continues to vibrate in the air.

Technology as an extension of the driver

Its semi-active suspension, the first of its kind, lowers the body by 40 mm in track mode and instantly adapts stiffness to the slightest variations in the asphalt. With its front suspension featuring unequal-length control arms, the GTD maintains exceptional lateral stability, even in corners subject to high g-forces. This dual-height architecture allows the GTD to read the asphalt like an open book and extract its full potential.

This mechanical precision is echoed in the interior: the cockpit features the latest Mustang electrical architecture, a 12.4-inch LCD digital dashboard, and a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, all of which are fully customizable, allowing you to adjust driving modes and turn every drive into a real timed session thanks to Track Apps.

From Icon to living legend

For over sixty years, the Mustang has carved its path like a red thread through automotive history. Born in 1964 to embody the freedom of an entire generation, it has crossed eras, weathered crises, and preserved the magnetic aura that made it a universal myth. With the GTD, this dream reaches a historic milestone. It is no longer just the car that democratized American performance; it has become a "supercar" in its own right, ready to challenge the world's elite on their own ground, taking on the Nürburgring and racetracks around the world.

The 2025 Mustang GTD isn't just writing a new chapter, it's starting a new era where the icon becomes a living legend and the future is defined by one truth: the Mustang has never been this untamed.
